Carly Shonbrun-Siege is a senior environmental and sustainability sciences major with a concentration in both forestry and governance. Currently, she works at the Cornell Center for Conservation Social Sciences. Throughout her Cornell career, Carly has focused on developing her laboratory skills, ecological knowledge and field experience, working for the Cornell ASSET Program in the School of Veterinary Studies, in the Drinkwater soil assessment lab, and with the Cornell Orchards. Carly also provided research and revision to a professor in the History Department for a book about environmental comedy and its potential role in fighting climate change denial. She’s passionate forest vulnerability to climate change, sustainable urban development, and finding innovative ways to communicate about climate change. On campus, Carly is a member and former president of Pants Comedy, Cornell’s improvisational comedy troupe. At COP24, Carly hopes to continue her work on pushing for a loss and damages mechanism for small island developing states like the Kingdom of Tonga.
