Khyati Rathore is a second-year graduate student with the Department of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. As a Master of Regional Planning candidate, she is currently pursuing her studies in international development and public policy with the research focus on climate change adaptation strategies. She is currently engaged with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) to create an evaluation plan for the Climate Smart Communities Grant program. She recently worked with Kota Kita Foundation in Indonesia to develop the methodology for a co-development initiative. The project aimed to leverage the revitalization of Pepe river to economically empower the associated communities.

Prior to joining Cornell, she has professional experience in healthcare, hospitality, educational and residential sectors of architectural practices. She has actively promoted sustainable practices as a student and professional. As part of the Sustainability Champions Program with HKS Inc., she had been involved in policy development and implementation aimed at integrating sustainability within the professional practice and expediting firm’s efforts towards achieving the 2030 Challenge for carbon-neutral buildings. She intends to work in the field of climate change as a planner and policy maker to contribute to strategically planned responses to climate change impacts.
